Ever since the Red Wedding in Season 3 of Game of Thrones, we’ve seen the Boltons (Roose, Ramsay, and Michael... ok, not Michael) steadily rise through the ranks in the so-called game of thrones. The house of the flayed man now commands the entire North, which Roose reminded us in Season 4, Episode 8 is bigger than the other six kingdoms combined. But for those of you hoping for a Bolton downfall soon, don’t hold your breath. It sounds like the Boltons are going to be in an even more powerful position in Season 5!

“It’s a typical Ramsay move, but it’s in fact setting up next season,” director Alex Graves tells The Hollywood Reporter about Ramsay’s recent flaying of the Ironborn at Moat Cailin. “The Boltons have taken the North and they are now powerful. The man who helped carry out the Red Wedding [Roose] has capitalized on his success in a very significant way. Ramsay and Roose — one of the things that really sets the tone for next year is they’ve really got some serious power going now.” Geez, will the good guys ever catch a break on this show?!

Alex also talks about what makes Ramsay such a psycho, and basically says we can chalk it up to bad parenting. “The core of his whole psychology is he has been completely rejected and belittled by his father since the beginning,” Alex says. “If you can just imagine Roose being your father, you wouldn't have a cell of self-esteem left.”

Are you looking forward to seeing more of the Boltons? Do you think they will ever be brought down? Sound off in the comments.
