Game of Thrones has a ton of characters. Seriously, it’s a crazy amount. Sometimes characters disappear for seasons at a time, like Alliser Thorne. Sometimes new actors fill the roles of existing characters, like Daario. But sometimes, characters who are in the background just stick around long enough until they become more prominent. And it sounds like that’s what’s going to happen with Grand Maester Pycelle.

Pycelle is always a welcome addition to the scenes that he’s in, offering comic relief as a smug old curmudgeon whose loyalty to the Lannisters is unwavering, despite their sometimes unsavory treatment of him. So luckily, Pycelle will be back in Season 5, and in a seemingly expanded role. Julian Glover, who portrays Pycelle, is asked by Flicks and the City how likely we are to see him in season 5. “Oh, very likely,” Julian says. “I know I’ve got five episodes so far, I start filming in August I think.”

So Pycelle is going to be in at least half the episodes in Season 5? Seems like King’s Landing, and the small council, will be featured a lot next season. We can’t wait for more Pycelle!
