Of all the characters on Game of Thrones, and there are a lot, perhaps none of them have undergone a bigger transformation than Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). The once proud, arrogant son of the King of Salt of and Rock and heir to the Iron Islands, Theon now goes by Reek, a frightened, obedient creature who bears little resemblance to Theon. We saw Reek “play” Theon in Season 4, Episode 8, but his loyalty to his tormentor/creator Ramsay never wavered. So is there any of the real Theon left inside Reek?
“I think there are moments where he revisits the state of mind of Theon again,” Alfie Allen, who portrays Theon/Reek, reveals to Vulture. “But I think right now, he’s just totally Reek. He’s driven by fear and pain, and I don’t think there’s even any anger there. It’s just fear and pain, and maybe the only times he can come back as Theon is when he’s slightly angry. So he’d be two percent Theon now, when he’s angry at himself, angry at the world, you know?.”
So we started out with whole Theon, and now we’re down to 2 percent? If we continue with the milk analogy, Reek should soon be just 1 percent Theon before becoming skim, or in other words, 0 percent Theon. Poor guy, maybe he should switch to soy milk before it’s too late.
