We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: No one is safe on Game of Thrones. Especially in Season 4, where the slogan has been “All Men Must Die.” We’ve already seen the deaths of King Joffrey, Lysa Arryn, Oberyn Martell, Ygritte, and lots of others, but we get the feeling they’re saving the biggest death for the finale. So who’s it gonna be?

This speculation is spoiler free!

Based on the trailer for the episode, we’re going with Jon Snow (Kit Harington). The Starks have had a run of unprecedented good luck for them so far this season: Sansa escaped King’s Landing and for the first time appears to be in control of her own destiny, Arya has managed to scratch a few names off her list while retrieving her lost Needle, and it looks like Bran is even going to make it to his destination without losing anyone in his party. That leaves us with Jon Snow.

Prior to the death of Ygritte and his pals Pyp and Grenn, Jon had been doing pretty well. He led a successful raid against the mutineers at Craster’s Keep, was reunited with Ghost, and even won some begrudging respect from Alliser Thorne. But after last week’s deaths, Jon seems to be a broken man. He knows his mission to assassinate Mance Rayder will end in his own demise, but he doesn’t seem to care. In the trailer, we see Jon does get his meeting with Mance... but he also gets a blade shoved up against his throat. Our guess? Jon takes out Mance, thus ending the Wildling threat, but he loses his own life in the process.

A hero’s death to end a hero’s journey. Valar morghulis.
