When we last saw Cersei (Lena Headey) on Game of Thrones Season 4, she was telling off her father and rekindling her romance with Jaime. With Tywin now dead, what lies in store for the Queen Regent in Season 5, based on A Song of Ice and Fire?

If the show stays close to the plot of the books, we should finally see Cersei’s downfall in Season 5, and some spoilers from set confirm this.
Without Tywin to order her around, Cersei is in control of the Seven Kingdoms, and man, is she bad at it. She surrounds herself with incompetent people so no one will challenge her, and eventually makes several terrible decisions, chief of which are militarizing the Faith of the Seven, and coming up with a plan to get rid of Margaery.
She does the latter by accusing Margaery of infidelity, but this backfires on her and she, too, is accused of sleeping around by the now-empowered new High Septon of the Faith Militant. We’re guessing this revelation is where Jaime ends his relationship with Cersei, since by this point in the story in the books they are already no longer an item.
During Cersei’s trial, she is forced to strip and shave her head before going on a walk of shame through the streets of King’s Landing, which will happen this season on the show, and we’re guessing she’s still in hot water at the end of Season 5.
Also, according to casting rumors, we could also get a flashback in Season 5 to Cersei’s childhood, where she receives a prophecy that helps explain her sometimes insane motivations.
