After too many seasons being hardly more than a pawn in other people's games, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) finally came into her own near the end of Game of Thrones Season 4, masterfully pulling off a major lie to save Littlefinger during his interrogation after Lysa's death. Sansa Stark has become a player — but that hasn't exactly gone well for the rest of her family in the past.

Will Sansa find she's out of her depth in a deadly way in Season 5? The A Song of Ice and Fire books give us a clue.

Good news: Unless the show suddenly take a huge departure from the books, Sansa will be OK.

An interesting thing about Sansa's TV arc is that at this point, she is arguably ahead of her book story. Plot wise, she's about caught up to where she is in the most recent book, with just a few details left to fill in, which you can learn more about here. But in the books Sansa hasn't quite had the full-blown transformation into savvy player that the HBO version showed in her last episode of the season.

So the fact is, the show might start outpacing the books when it comes to Sansa. Or, more likely, it will just flesh out her story with the trip about the Vale Littlefinger was planning. We're not really sure what the show will do with her next year, so we suppose it's possible she'll die in an unexpected twist.

That said, we doubt it. The show has killed off characters who are alive in the books, but never someone as major as Sansa. We have a feeling that she still has a lot left to do in the A Song of Ice and Fire Books, so we'd bet good money Sansa is still alive and kicking this time next year.
