When we last saw Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) on Game of Thrones, he was riding away from Meereen after having been dismissed by Daenerys for treason. Jorah’s got to be feeling pretty down, so where will he turn up in Season 5? A Song of Ice and Fire provides the likely answer.

In the books, Jorah doesn’t pop up again for a while, but when he does it’s a pretty shocking moment. Tyrion is traveling across Essos on his way to encounter Dany when he stops at a whorehouse in the Free City of Volantis. By chance, he bumps into Jorah, who recognizes Tyrion and captures him, thinking that he can win his way back into Dany’s good graces by bringing her a knowledgeable Westerosi prisoner.

However, Jorah’s plans are foiled when he and Tyrion are captured themselves by slavers and sold into slavery. Their new slave master, Yezzan zo Qaggaz, eventually brings them outside the gates of Meereen, where forces are gathering to invade. Yezzan dies of the plague, and Jorah and Tyrion escape and end up with a sellsword company (the Second Sons in the books, but they’re already in use in the show so it will likely be a different group), where they hope to convince them to join the side of Dany and Meereen.
