When we last saw Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) on Game of Thrones, he was arriving triumphantly at the Wall, getting off his horse in perfect unison with Stannis (Stephen Dillane). Now that the Onion Knight is in a new setting, what fate awaits him in Season 5?

A new mission. In the books, Davos does not stay at the Wall for too long. Stannis sends letters to all of the Northern Lords asking for their support since he just saved their asses, but none of them respond except for House Karstark. So Stannis sends Davos to White Harbor to try and get the Manderlys, one of the most powerful houses in the North, on his side.

A turn for the worse. Davos arrives and meets with Lord Wyman Manderly, who calls Davos a traitor and locks him away. He then displays the head and hands of Davos on his walls, and sends word to King’s Landing that he’s killed him.

Another new mission. However, Manderly doesn’t really kill Davos. It’s all a ruse to trick the Freys who are hanging out in his castle. Manderly meets with Davos and tells him that he wants vengeance for the Red Wedding, and that he has heard rumors that Rickon Stark is alive on the island of Skagos. He sends Davos to retrieve Rickon and return him safely to the North, where he will be groomed to rule from Winterfell. If Davos does this, Manderly says, then the power of White Harbor will belong to Stannis.

We really hope the show doesn’t alter this plotline much. We like Davos, and it would be nice to give him something to do, and Wyman Manderly is one of the best characters we haven’t met yet, so it would be a real shame if he’s cut. Given the news that Lady Stoneheart probably getting the axe, viewers need some sort of payback for the Red Wedding, and Wyman Manderly offers them just that.

However, given the show’s recent decisions to majorly alter or cut big storylines, we wouldn’t be surprised to not see any of this happen in Season 5. We'll have to wait and see.
