Game of Thrones fans have to wait an agonizing year before the next season of the show, but for fans who also read the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, waiting a year for more of the story is nothing. It's been three years since the last book was released, and the next one, Winds of Winter, still seems like an impossible dream.

But good news for those sick of the wait! No, a release date hasn't been announced, but writer George R. R. Martin did drop some hints about the book to Entertainment Weekly. Hey, at this point, we'll take what we can get.

So, what can we expect from Winds of Winter? According to GRRM, the book is going to start with two giant battles — presumably Ramsay vs. Stannis in the North, and the battle for Meereen over in Essos.

Speaking of Essos, GRRM had some other things to say about what's going on over there. The Dothraki will play a "big" part in the story again — bringing it full circle — and, yes, Tyrion and Dany will finally "intersect, in a way." That said, those who were hoping the two would team up right away will probably be disappointed since apparently "for much of the book they’re still apart."

We'll also see a lot of action at the Wall, plus, of course, death, betrayal, and yet more weddings. Should be a good time once the book is released in... um, the future.
