On Game of Thrones, no character is safe. Season 4 saw the deaths of major players like Tywin and Joffrey, as well as fan favorites such as Oberyn and Ygritte. So with Season 5 next up, will one of the show’s bravest warriors, Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), face down the one enemy even she can’t defeat... death?

The show has already altered Brienne’s storyline in a big way. In the books, she never meets Arya, nor does she fight the Hound. Heading into Season 5, the show is only going to change more things around, since Lady Stoneheart will reportedly not be appearing. In the books, Brienne runs afoul of Lady Stoneheart, who hangs her for being a traitor. Brienne is cut down only after she agrees to bring Jaime Lannister to Stoneheart, presumably to be executed. When we last see Brienne, she is leading Jaime away, and their fates remain unclear.

However, with Stoneheart out of the picture, we have no clue what the end game is for Brienne. Will the show invent another way to pit her against Jaime? This feels like the natural end for her, but how the show will get there without a resurrected Cat Stark we can’t say. If we had to guess though, we’d say that Brienne lives to see Season 6, since she's still alive at the end of the fifth book. But don’t quote us on that.
