If there’s one character on Game of Thrones we can all agree to love, it’s got to be Hodor (Kristian Nairn). Whether you root for the Starks or the Lannisters, if you prefer White Walkers or Dragons, if you like your weddings red or purple, we can all agree that Hodor is awesome. So now that he has help Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) reach the Three-Eyed Raven, seemingly ending his purpose in life, what will happen to him in Season 5?

Really the only thing left for Bran to do that’s been covered in the books is train to use his powers with the Three-Eyed Raven, but there are only about two chapters covering that material.

After that point, the show will either invent some story for Hodor and Bran (and Meera), or they’ll draw content from the still-unpublished Winds of Winter. Or, for a third option, they could just stretch out Bran’s training period. This could free up Hodor to actually do some things, since Bran does possess Hodor’s body more regularly in the books and uses him to check out the Three-Eyed Raven’s lair. Might we see more of Bran-possessed Hodor in Season 5? That seems like a given at this point, and we’re guessing Hodor’s going to have to leave that cave to get food at some point, which opens up the possibility of Hodor kicking more wight butt. While we’re a little in the dark on what will happen to Hodor next season, we can say one thing for sure: he won’t say anything other than “Hodor.”
