Game of Thrones has added Spain to its roster of nations to serve as filming locations for season 5, and if the show’s first casting call in the country is any indication, the Spanish are pretty excited.

Over 10,000 people applied to be an extra on the show in just the first 24 hours after the casting call was sent out. Production is being handled by Spanish company Fresco Film Services, and they plan to respond to all who applied by email (we’re guessing it will take more than 24 hours, though).

Evidence received thus far indicates that Spain will be used mainly as a setting for Dorne, which we will be seeing in Season 5. There is also some speculation that some Spanish locations may also stand in for scenes set in Meereen and Braavos, so even though 10,000 seems a little high, a lot of extras will most likely be needed in the country.

Several locales around southern Spain are rumored or confirmed to be included in season 5, such as the palace Alcazar of Seville, the Plaza de Toros bull ring, and several locations in the town of Osuna: the University, the 500 year old church La Colegiata, and the old stone quarry, La Canteras de Osuna.

Would you want to be an extra on Game of Thrones?
