Game of Thrones Season 4 came and went without answering the biggest question on everyone’s mind: where’s Rickon Stark? The youngest member of the noblest noble family didn’t pop up once in Season 4, leaving us to wonder if we’ll ever see him again.
So based on what we know from the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, will Rickon be making an appearance in Season 5?

Season 5 is expected to be largely based on the fourth and fifth books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, and in those books, Rickon actually doesn’t show up. At all. Not even a little bit.
However, he is mentioned as being alive, and there’s a strong chance he shows his face in the next book. In the books, Stannis sends Ser Davos to treat with the Lord of White Harbor, Wyman Manderly, in an effort to get White Harbor on his side. Lord Manderly tells Davos that he’s heard that Rickon is alive and hiding out on the island of Skagos, and if Davos can retrieve him for him, then he will support Stannis as King.
In the show, Osha and Rickon were headed to Last Hearth rather than Skagos, but that’s not really that important. The important thing is that, as far as we know, Rickon isn’t dead! We’re almost positive he’ll pop up on the show again at some point, we just don’t know when.
If the show speeds up Davos’ encounter with Rickon (which hasn’t yet happened in the books), then there’s a chance we could get this storyline next season, but we doubt that will happen. The more likely chance of us seeing Rickon in Season 5 would be if the show gave us a brief check-in of Osha and Rickon to remind viewers that there’s another Stark kid out there. This latter theory is starting to gain traction among fans, so don’t put away those Rickon jerseys just yet.
