New Game of Thrones character Doran Martell will be portrayed by actor Alexander Siddig, but what do we know about this new face? Here are five facts about Alexander.

1. His full name is super long. Alexander’s birth name is, are you ready... Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abderahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi. Phew, we have to admit, “Alexander Siddig” is a little easier to remember.

2. He’s from Sudan. Alexander was born in Sudan on November 21, 1965, but was raised mostly in England. His mother is English while his father is Sudanese.

3. He’s done Sci-Fi. While Game of Thrones is firmly on the fantasy side of the genre spectrum, Alexander is already a familiar (and beloved) face in some corners of nerd culture thanks to his role as Dr. Julian Bashir on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

4. He has a son named Django. We assume the D is silent and that he is unchained.

5. He’s dealt with dragons before. In a movie, anyway. Alexander appeared in the 2002 film Reign of Fire, which depicts a dystopian future where dragons have taken over the world (you know, that old chestnut). Alexander starred alongside a number of Hollywood heavy hitters in the film, such as Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, and Gerard Butler.
