On Game of Thrones, Irish actor Ciarán Hinds portrays the (now deposed) King Beyond the Wall, Mance Rayder. Mance was introduced in Season 3, and popped up again in the season finale of Season 4, where he submitted to Stannis, while still refusing to kneel. It seems to make sense to us that Mance has some unfinished business to attend to in Season 5, but will Ciarán be back on the show?

Yep! The actor confirms in an interview with fan site Ciarán Hinds!, “On Game of Thrones I have not yet been roasted, crucified, slaughtered or whatever they do with people in that show eventually, so I will be coming back for shooting again in the fifth series,” Ciarán reveals. The article also mentions that Ciarán will be filming in Northern Ireland in August, which makes sense since we’ve already seen several members of the Night’s Watch around Belfast on social media.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Mance next season. Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire books, the character should have a pretty involved storyline moving forward, but certain casting information (or lack thereof) leads us to believe the show may be scrapping much of his story. We’ll just have to wait until Season 5 to find out!
