Game of Thrones Season 2, Episode 9: "Blackwater" was wonderfully epic, but it left some TV fans worried about everyone's favorite imp. Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) ended the episode in bad shape, passing out in his squire's arms after being attacked by someone who was supposed to be on his side. The city was saved by Tywin Lannister, but will Tyrion live to congratulate his dear old dad?

We haven't seen next week's episode, but we have read the books, so we can answer this question with confidence.

Relax guys, he's fine. Well, fine might be a strong word, but unless the show makes an inexplicably huge departure from the books, he lives.

In the books, Tyrion's wound was actually much worse than it appears to be on the show — his nose is literally cut off, and his face is horribly scarred. We're guessing that Tyrion on the show will retain a scar from this injury, but we suspect it won't be as dramatic.

However, while Tyrion lives, that doesn't mean his position in court will stay the same. Remember, he was only Hand of the King in his father's place. Now that Tywin is back in town, you can expect a shift in power dynamics.
