We’ve missed Sean Bean since Ned Stark lost his head at the end of Game of Thrones Season 1, but it seems to be firmly back in place because TNT just announced that Sean has been cast as the lead in a new spy drama from the producers of Homeland. Let’s hope Sean’s character has a good head on his shoulders!

The show, whcih has already received a series order, is called Legends, and it is based on a novel by the same name. It will follow Sean’s character, Martin Odum, an undercover agent in the FBI’s Deep Cover Operations division. Martin “has the uncanny ability to transform himself into a completely different person for each job,” reports The Wrap. “But, he begins to question his own identity when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn’t the man he believes himself to be.”

Sean Bean just can’t stay away from danger, can he? Much like Ned Stark, it sounds like Martin will be a family man. He has a pre-teen son named Aiden, which means we get to see a softer side of Sean. (Sadly, he won’t be gifting his son with a direwolf anytime soon.) The 10-episode season is set to premiere in 2014, so those of you still recovering from the GoT Season 1 finale still have some time to pull yourself together.

Well, it may not be the Ned Stark resurrection we were all hoping for, but it will have to do. We love Sean Bean and many of the creators and producers behind the project were active on Homeland and 24. Let’s hope it has the cunning of the former, the suspense of the latter, and fewer Sean Bean deaths than roughly everything the actor’s ever been in before.

Will you be checking out Legends or would you rather protect the illusion that Sean Bean is Ned Stark? Let us know in the comments below!
