The eldest son of Ned Stark and current head of House Stark, Robb (Richard Madden), AKA the King in the North, is a young man out of depths on HBO's Game of Thrones, desperately trying to win a war that's quickly spiraling out of control.

In Season 1 we were introduced to Robb as a young man, much in the mold of his father: Honorable, kind, and strong. When Ned departed for King's Landing, Robb was left in charge of Winterfell, where he spent the first half of the season learning how to lead and helping his younger brother, Bran, adjust to being paralyzed.

Then, after Ned's arrest in the wake of Robert's death, Robb called his bannermen to march in war. He won battles, and managed to capture Jaime Lannister. He also made a deal with Walder Frey, agreeing to marry one of Frey's daughters in exchange for his support. After Ned's execution, Robb was declared King in the North by his followers.

During Season 2, Robb continued to win many battles, but made some bad strategic moves. He sent Theon Greyjoy off to make an alliance with Balon Greyjoy, which backfired when Theon betrayed him and attacked Winterfell. He fell in love with and married a foreign nurse named Talisa, breaking his pact with the Freys. That, combined with Catelyn letting Jaime escape put him in a perilous position going into Season 3.

In Season 3, things continued to go poorly for Robb, as Hoster Tully's poorly-timed death, a bad strategic move by his uncle Edmure, and terrible troop morale wore away at his cause. He was forced to behead Lord Karstark after Karstark killed some Lannister hostages, which lost him a large chunk of his army. To compensate Robb struck another deal with the Freys, which includeed a marriage between Edmure and Roslin Frey. But it turned out that marriage was a trick arranged by Walder Frey, Roose Bolton, and Tywin Lannister, meant to ensnare Robb and his army. Robb, his mother, and his men were slaughtered after the ceremony, in what is know as the Red Wedding.

Robb was introduced in Season 1, Episode 1: "Winter Is Coming." He died in Season 3, Episode 9: "The Rains of Castamere."
