Game of Thrones Star Peter Dinklage Scores Comedy Role
Game of Thrones fans know how hilarious Peter Dinklage can be in his role as Tyrion Lannister in the HBO fantasy drama, but soon movie-goers will get the chance to see him flex his comedic muscles as the star of a new film from Paramount.
Peter will star in an as-yet-untitled R-rated comedy to be written by Andrew Dodge, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Dodge's other writing credits include Jason Bateman’s directorial debut, Bad Words.
The new film centers around Peter’s character, who claims to be an actual leprechaun, and is said to be similar to Bad Words and the 2003's very dirty Bad Santa. Just a stab in the dark here, but maybe the new film will end up with the title Bad Leprechaun? Like those films, Peter's new project will feature some "filthy fun" but will also have a lot of heart at its core.
Peter has had roles in comedies before, including the 2003 Will Ferrell comedy Elf and 2010’s ensemble Death at a Funeral, but this new role will be his first comedic lead. Will he become the next great comedy star? We’ll have to wait and see the new film, but if he’s half as funny in it as he is as Tyrion Lannister is on GoT, we like his odds!
