George Clooney Rejects The Daily Mail’s Apology For Fabricated Wedding Tensions Story (VIDEO)

Note to self: Do not ever cross George Clooney. He is not playing around — especially where his fiance, Amal Alamuddin is concerned.

After publishing a scathing Op Ed in USA Today, admonishing the Daily Mail for an article they ran, claiming that Amal’s mother disapproved of their marriage because of religious tensions that simply did not exist. In response, the Daily Mail deleted the original story and issued an apology to George, but as far as the former ER star is concerned, it’s all too little too late.

Instead, he’s publicly rejecting their apology. Take that!

“In the apology, managing editor Charles Garside claims that the article was ‘not a fabrication,’ but ‘based the story on conversations with senior members of the Lebanese community,’” George writes in his rebuttal, also in USA Today. “The problem is that none of that is true.”

George goes on to explain that since the Daily Mail’s only source was a family friend of George’s, their apology is just sloppy backpedaling, and that in an earlier story, the Daily Mail wrote that Amal’s mother was not a part of the religion that they’re now claiming is the cause of the “tension” surrounding the wedding.

Are you keeping all this straight? Good.

“What separates this from all of the ridiculous things the Mail makes up is that now, by their own admission, it can be proved to be a lie. In fact, a premeditated lie,” George continues. “So I thank the Mail for its apology. Not that I would ever accept it, but because in doing so they’ve exposed themselves as the worst kind of tabloid. One that makes up its facts to the detriment of its readers and to all the publications that blindly reprint them.”
