News of Bachelor star Gia Allemand’s passing away on August 14, 2013 at the age of 29 has left her friends and family reeling. And while initial reports were unclear as to what “emergency medical event” had caused the reality star and model to be hospitalized, it was recently announced that Gia died of an apparent suicide. Boyfriend, NBA player Ryan Anderson, released a statement to Us Weekly mourning the loss of his partner.
"I'm deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends, and fans," Ryan wrote. "Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out, and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile."
Indeed the gorgeous model always had a coy smile on her face during her stints on The Bachelor Season 14 and Bachelor Pad Seasons 1 and 2. Her Bachelor Nation family was quick to reach out with photo memories of their friend, and tweeted grief and prayers for her family.
Ryan, who found Gia at their New Orleans home on Monday, August 12, expressed in his statement his girlfriend’s profound ability to touch others. "She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith, and love that we shared."
Gia was taken to University Hospital by emergency personnel and was put on life support. However, having suffered extreme organ and brain failure, her ventilator was removed and she pronounced dead on Wednesday. Ryan, Gia’s family, and her pastor were at her side when she passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
