UPDATE: Scott Patterson Talks Lorelai’s Rumored ‘Gilmore Girls’ Pregnancy
UPDATE (08/05/2016 at 11:30 a.m. ET):
Scott Patterson is adding fuel to the rumor Lorelai Gilmore will be pregnant when Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres in November.
The 57-year-old is in the middle of the conspiracy theories, as his character Luke Danes would be the father of the littlest Gilmore girl (or boy!).
“I can’t say,” he responded when Us Weekly asked if there’s truth to the speculation. “[If they did coparent I] think it would be exactly as we are without a child. Maybe with a little bit of a power struggle but with love and some understanding.”
He even continued, saying, “Maybe a couple of blowouts just like everybody else has. I don’t think it would be different than anyone else.”
Well, Scott, you certainly put a lot of thought into something you can’t talk about.
The actor also gave some hints big things are headed Luke and Lorelai’s way, revealing, “There are two that are penultimate Luke and Lorelai scenes. It will be the scenes to end all Luke and Lorelai scenes. They are just fantastic.”
Only a baby could top the TV couple’s first kiss and that time they painted the diner, right?

But a single Instagram photo on the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life account knocked some sense into us.
The page’s latest upload has the Internet wondering, “Is a Gilmore girl pregnant?!”
The picture includes a well-rounded Gilmore breakfast — sugary Pop-Tarts and a big cup of coffee — and an apple.
While most people enjoy apples, this TV mother-daughter duo does not.
In fact, Lorelai Gilmore only enjoyed the fruit for nine very specific months of her life: when she was pregnant with Rory.
That little piece of info was revealed in a Season 5 episode, when the Cool Mom worried she was pregnant with Luke Danes’s baby because she was craving the produce. In the revival, Luke and Lorelai are still together.
Netflix even tried to force fans to remember these details by pointing out the piece of fruit, writing, “Pop-Tart appetizers to hold us over 'till the pizza comes. And one apple.”
Plus, Luke’s portrayer Scott Patterson said his alter ego’s relationship is “really ramped up and the stakes are much higher.” A baby on the way definitely qualifies as high stakes.
As all this evidence piles up, we think you should keep an eye out for Lorelai’s baby shower gift registry!
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres Friday, November 25, on Netflix.
