No matter what she does, Lea Michele (Rachel) can’t seem to shake the reputation that she’s a gal who doesn’t get along with her co-stars. Most recently, several media reports said Naya Rivera (Santana) and Lea were at odds, with Naya even complaining to producers about Lea’s diva behavior. It was later clarified that Naya most likely actually got into it with one of the show’s producers, and was written out of the Season 5 finale as a result, but for whatever reason Lea was dragged into the fiasco.
The 27-year-old filmed an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman on May 15, and Dave wasted no time asking Lea about the recent goings on on the Glee set. “You knocked somebody out? You cold-cocked somebody?” Dave asked jokingly. At first Lea nervously laughed, but then she opened up a bit.
“It’s really unbelievable, the amount of things that can just be completely made up,” she said. “And it’s really frustrating.”
“So you know what I’m talking about then,” Dave answered. “Because I just made it up!”
Dave’s little bit took us off topic for a bit — “Now I’m not gonna say anything!,” Lea mused — but she was able to deny the catfight, claiming that it was all made up. “It’s really unfortunate,” she said, before launching into a slightly longer explanation. “I think the way people like to pit women against each other — not to get so serious — but it’s really annoying and it’s really sad.”
Furthermore, Lea went on to say that if there ever was an epic brawl on set, we’d all know about it thanks to Lea’s desired set-up. “You’d know about it because I’d get like a ring, and I’d put Jello in it, and I’d make it fun for everyone and it would be super hot,” she said with a laugh.
Since Naya was written out of the finale it’s clear that something went down on set, but we’re glad that Lea was able to laugh it off! Check out the full clip below and tell us what you think of Lea’s explanation.
