Cory Monteith Death: FOX Considers Delaying Season 5 for Months

In the wake of Cory Monteith's death on July 13, one of the most pressing questions is if and how Glee will live on — and how the abrupt absence of Finn Hudson will be handled in Season 5. Now it seems like Fox wants a month or two to mull over these very questions — and to give Glee's cast and crew members time to grieve the loss of one of their dearest colleagues.

Sources tell the Daily News that the network is thinking about delaying production for a month to "let everyone breathe." A delay like that could push the Season 5 premiere to November.

The fifth season was supposed to start filming next week, the outlet reports, for a Sept. 19 premiere so that the season could get a head-start before FOX preempts its usual programming for baseball coverage.

The writers had actually penned the first two episodes of the season before taking their summer vacation, and those installments are said to have been Finn-heavy.

Even though he was off for the summer, Cory was still revolving the Glee world: The Daily News also reports that he posed with the rest of the cast members for Season 5 promotional photos on June 28 in Los Angeles — and he visited the set of The Normal Heart, Ryan Murphy's HBO movie, two weeks ago.

Only time will tell when — and in what form — Glee will resume without one of its MVPs.
