Despite the fact that the May 9 season finale of Glee ended in the middle of the school year, it was goodbye for two Glee kids — at least for now. Two characters decided, each for very different reasons, that their Regionals performance would be their last: Ryder (Blake Jenner) and Brittany (Heather Morris).

After finding out that
Unique (Alex Newell) was his Catfish, Katie, Blake decided he was done with the New Directions. However, once he realized in the eleventh hour that he shouldn’t punish the whole club just because he was angry with one of them, he showed up to perform at Regionals. While he seemed pretty resolute that he was done, it’s a safe bet that he’ll have a change of heart. He can’t stay angry forever, right?

Brittany’s departure, on the other hand, is far more permanent. Her early admission to MIT — and her emotional goodbye — make it seem all but certain that Brittany’s closing this chapter of her life. And it makes sense, given the recent revelation that
Heather Morris is pregnant. But that doesn’t make it suck less.

If Brittany returns to the McKinley choir room again, it’ll be as a guest. But considering how many graduates seem to have unlimited frequent flyer miles, we will hold out hope that Britt will come back to visit. Please?
