Heather Morris (Brittany) is singing and dancing for two these days, and the Glee star’s pregnancy — she was about three months along at the time of filming — was kind of obvi during last night’s Season 4 finale. Brittany didn’t exactly resort to, say, holding up a pumpkin in front of her belly for the entire episode, but the show clearly made an effort to conceal her bump.
Glee dropped a bombshell last night when Brittany announced that she is leaving McKinley immediately to start studying at MIT. We don’t yet know for sure how much we’ll see of her in Season 5, but it’s safe to say departure is a result of Heather’s pregnancy.
In fact, we could tell that the show went to great (labor) pains last night to hide her growing bump. For example, it’s quite convenient that Brittany just happened to quit the Cheerios last night, meaning Heather wouldn’t have to squeeze into that tight little cheerleading tight uniform. Instead, it was baggy shirts and huge scarfs all the way.
Plus, Brittany’s Regionals dress definitely seemed designed to flare out on top of her bump area, somewhat disguising it from view. And her dance moves during the Regionals numbers weren’t quite as adventurous as we’re used to from Heather. In fact, the camera’s didn’t seem to show her as much, either.
Heather has yet to sign a Season 5 contract, but it’s possible that Brittany may still make intermittent appearances on the show, as Puck, Mercedes, and Quinn have done this season. And she’d better, since we can’t imagine our lives without any hope of a Brittana reunion.
In the meantime, we’re wishing Heather a happy pregnancy — and we have a feeling she’ll be taking her little one to mommy-and-me dance classes before too long.
