Brittany (Heather Morris) got the big send-off during Glee’s Season 4 finale, but one other New Directions girl will be MIA when Season 5 kicks up, as Vanessa Lengies (Sugar) has been cast in the ABC sitcom Mixology. And it seems Vanessa has some semi-harsh parting words for Glee.

Vanessa spoke to
TV Guide about why she was willing to part ways with Glee after two seasons. "Getting to play Sugar Motta was one of the biggest opportunities of my life, and I met some of the most fantastic people, but I was being hired per episode," she explains.

Vanessa says she didn’t really get to showcase her thespian skills on the show. "I loved getting to be there and dancing around, but I didn't really have much of an opportunity to act,” Vanessa adds. So she’s summing up her
Glee experience as “dancing around”? Ouch.

We’ve loved getting to see Sugar’s unpredictable, self-diagnosed-Asperger’s self over the years — not to mention her quasi-romance with Artie (Kevin McHale) — but Vanessa sounds far more excited about what her new show allows her to do.

She says about filming Mixology,"For an actress who really hasn't gotten to act for two years, it was like letting a wild dog out of its cage.” Really hasn’t gotten to act? Double ouch.

So how would Vanessa like Glee to explain Sugar’s absence? "I would love to have them introduce a time machine and reveal that Sugar was a visitor from the future," Vanessa says. Us, too, Vanessa. Us, too.
