Ever since Samuel Larsen (Joe) was crowned one of the two Glee Project Season 1 winners, the 21-year-old star been known for his distinctive dreadlocks. We haven’t yet gotten any official word on whether or not Samuel will be returning for Glee Season 5, but should his new haircut be taken as a bad sign?

Sam got a dramatic haircut last week. And though we’ve always been a fan of his nearly waist-length dreads, we must say that his new ‘do his amazing. In fact, let us pause for a moment while we wipe up the Samuel-induced drool puddle from our computer keyboard. Okay, all clear.

Of course, the downside to his shorter mane is that this may signify his departure. After all, the show has frequently referenced his long hair — with his superhero name of “Tarantula Head” or the fact that Brittany thought he was a girl — so it would be strange for him to suddenly have short hair. And his new look might be a bit too sexy for his somewhat meek character.

Plus, the writing has certainly been on the wall that Samuel’s place on the show wasn’t exactly solid. Before returning for the Season 4 finale, he hadn’t appeared since Season 4, Episode 15: “Girls (and Boys) on Film,” and hasn’t really had his own storyline since his kinda-sorta romance with Quinn in Season 3.

So maybe Samuel was going to be trimmed from the Glee cast even before he got a trim of his own. Or will he end up shocking us by popping up again? After all, New Directions certainly needs members, with both Brittany and Sugar seemingly out the door. Come back to us, Joe!
