In an incredible turn of events, Charice's mother has now come out as a former lesbian in the wake of her daughter's coming out.

During a press conference in the Philippines, an emotional Racquel Pempengco claimed, "I used to be a lesbian." The Glee star's mother went on to explain that she turned her back to homosexuality after her mother, Tess Relucio, convinced her to build her own family.

Racquel then married her husband Rick and the couple had two children together — Charice and her brother, Carl.

With this new information, you might think Racquel would able to relate to what Charice is going through, but she revealed in the press conference that a rift has developed between Charice and the rest of the family. Racquel said she didn't approve of the people Charice hangs out with and she feels as if Charice has turned her back on her family.

Tess, who turned Racquel straight back in the day, echoed those feelings and said she believe Charice needs the same "convincing" Racquel had when she was younger.

Both Racquel and Tess pined for Charice to come back and live with the family, suggesting that she abandon her current lifestyle. “Have some sympathy for your mom,” Tess said in her native Filipino language. When alerted to the statements made by her grandmother, Charice responded with a few stark words: “My lola knows how much I love her, and how much I love my family.”

It's really sad Charice's family isn't being supportive of her during this time of change in her life. Hopefully they'll be able to find some middle ground and reconcile their problems.
