Sad news for Glee fans: The FOX comedy will not be going to San Diego Comic-Con for 2013! This will be the first year that Glee is missing from the fan-favorite convention. It’s had a faithful presence at Comic-Con ever since its series launch back in 2009.

TV Line reports the news, adding that fellow FOX show Bones will be making an appearance, as well as FX’s Sons of Anarchy. Also of note, CBS’s comedy How I Met Your Mother will be attending Comic-Con for the first time — big news, especially coming into the final season of the show. Core cast members Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders are all set to appear at a panel.

Though we’re heartbroken to hear that Glee will be absent, there is one small note that still gives us hope. Last year, news broke in early June that Glee would be skipping out on Comic-Con 2012. The announcement did not go over well with fans, and a week later, FOX revealed that the show would be attending, after all.

Not only that, but tons of core cast members showed up: Lea Michele (Rachel) and Cory Monteith (Finn), Naya Rivera (Santana), Darren Criss (Blaine), Kevin McHale (Artie), and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina). What’s more, the cast revealed plenty of spoilers and juicy teases about what was to come.

With that in mind, we still have hope that Glee could decided at the last minute to attend Comic-Con anyway. Is it guaranteed? Nope. But we’re still willing to hold out for an announcement, just in case!
