In the time since Glee’s Cory Monteith (Finn) passed away on Saturday, plenty of his co-stars have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the news. However, most of them have been supporting characters. The core Glee cast is staying remarkably silent about everything.

Now, Naya Rivera (Santana) is speaking out about the tragedy. Just like Cory’s girlfriend, Lea Michele (Rachel), Naya is asking that fans respect everyone’s privacy. “My heart goes out to Cory’s family and Lea and while we are grateful for everyone's well wishes, privacy during this time of grief is greatly appreciated," she says in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

That’s not all. The actress, whose character briefly romanced Cory’s at various times during Glee Seasons 1 and 2, also gushes about her beloved co-star.

"The entire Glee family and I are deeply saddened by this tragedy," Naya says. "Cory was and always will be a part of my own family and a good friend. He was a special part of this world and will forever be missed.”

Cory’s body was found on the 21st floor of a Vancouver, B.C., hotel on July 13. His cause of death has not yet been revealed, but the Vancouver Police will likely release that information within the next few days.
