As the mystery of Cory Monteith’s (Finn) sudden passing on July 13 continues, we’re learning that his romance with girlfriend Lea Michele (Rachel) couldn’t have been better in the days leading up to his death. That just makes this entire situation even more heartbreaking.

"Lea and Cory were planning on moving in together after he got back from Vancouver,” a source tells Us Weekly. “They were 100 percent happy and together and in love at the time of his death.”

In fact, Lea and Cory "weren't talking engagement or marriage yet, but it was heading that way," the insider adds. "The first step was Cory was going to move in [to Michele's L.A. home] completely. He was already there all the time."

This crushing news comes as we all continue to await results from Cory’s toxicology report, which could come as early as this week. Lea’s rep has addressed Cory’s untimely passing, calling this a “devastating time” for Lea.

Cory spent his final week in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada, while Lea stayed back in L.A. Just before his death, Cory had “been hanging out with friends and seemed in good spirits,” a source in Vancouver told the mag.

Now that we know how close Lea and Cory really were before his death, it remains to be seen whether she will still return to Glee and how Finn will be written out of the show. We continue to wish Lea and all of Cory’s loved ones the best during this very difficult time.
