Cory Monteith (Finn) has been laid to rest. TMZ reports that the Glee star’s body was cremated on July 16, right after his family and girlfriend Lea Michele (Rachel)  held a private viewing of his body.

However, the site reports that Cory’s father, Joe Monteith, was not invited to the viewing, and he is “totally devastated” at missing the opportunity to see his son’s face one last time.

Cory’s body was released on July 16 to Cory’s mom, Ann. She is divorced from Cory’s father, and it appears that she just didn’t tell her ex about the viewing. Present at the private ceremony were Ann, Lea, and Cory’s brother, Shaun. TMZ says that it was Cory’s mother’s decision to have him cremated.

Cory’s mother is in Vancouver, while his father lives on the other side of the country. Joe tells TMZ that he is “shocked” to hear that his son used heroin. The coroner’s report, released on July 16, reveals that Cory died of “a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol.” Police have closed their investigation into his case, and his death has been ruled an accidental overdose.

Our thoughts go out to every member of Cory’s family during this extremely difficult time.
