Dealing with the death of Glee star Cory Monteith (Finn) has proven so difficult for his millions of fans that we can hardly imagine what Cory’s long-term girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele (Rachel) is going through. Unfortunately, one outlet is trying; InTouch Weekly reports that Lea blames herself for Cory’s untimely death.
“He fought for sobriety for her because she wanted it for him so badly,” an unnamed source supposedly close to the actress told InTouch. “I think she hoped she could save him.” The article adds that Lea’s friends say she “feels like this could have been stopped and she just can’t stop blaming herself.”
Lea and Cory began dating in late 2011, going public with their relationship in February 2012. She supported him during his recent stay at rehab and, along with the rest of his Glee family, championed Cory’s sobriety.
“Lea is in a haze of disbelief,” the InTouch source said. “She was the biggest cheerleader of him getting sober.”
According to InTouch, Lea hoped the autopsy results would not find evidence of a drug overdose. Unfortunately, though, that was not the case; yesterday, Cory’s death was officially ruled the result of a mix of substances, namely heroin and alcohol.
Lea is reportedly in Canada grieving alongside Cory’s family. We hope their support along with the support of her fans, as well as Cory’s, will help her through these dark days.
