Nothing on earth can possibly compare to the amount of pain that Lea Michele (Rachel) is experiencing after her co-star boyfriend Cory Monteith (Finn) tragically died of a heroin overdose on July 13. But as her longtime best friend Jonathan Groff — aka Glee’s Jesse St. James rushes to her side to comfort her, the Broadway vet is dealing with some heartbreak of his own.

Perez Hilton reports that Jonathan and his boyfriend Zachary Quinto have broken up. Perez says that “it has been confirmed to [him] exclusively” that the couple recently decided to split.

While Zachary — whom you likely recognize as either Sylar from Heroes or Spock from the new Star Trek movies — only confirmed the relationship in September 2012, the couple had actually been seen in public together many times before then. They’d been rumored to be dating since as early as 2010 or 2011.

Jonathan has plenty of upcoming projects on the horizon to help keep his mind off the split. In addition to lending his voice to the new animated Disney musical Frozen, he’s set to star in a new gay romance TV series for HBO. The Groff has been busy filming Ryan Murphy’s The Normal Heart, but he left production on the HBO TV movie as soon as he heard about Cory’s death so that he could be with Lea.

As sad as the news of Jonathan’s break up is, we have a feeling that he has a bit more on his mind right now. #RIPCory
