We were beyond thrilled recently about the possibility of Lea Michele (Rachel) and her Spring Awakening co-star Skylar Astin teaming up for a feature film. However, their big-screen reunion has been put on hold.

Deadline reports that Lea Michele is no longer attached to Flock of Dudes. The film is described as a female version of The Hangover in which a guy played by Whitney’s Chris D’elia decides to “break up” with his best buddies to become more mature. Skylar Astin is still slated to co-star in the film, which is currently shooting in L.A., but Lea won’t appear.

It’s understandable that Lea has a lot to deal with at the moment, following boyfriend Cory Monteith’s (Finn) stunning death on July 13. In addition to continuing to grieve, Lea is said to be planning Cory’s entire funeral, along with input from his family in Canada.

In fact, we’re still not sure when Lea will return to Glee, or if she will return at all. Glee’s writers are said to be currently crafting new storylines to address Cory’s death, with the start of the show’s production likely to be pushed back by a month to give cast and crew more time to cope.

We’re sure Lea will find a great movie to lend her talents to when the time is right, but we’re also hoping for Skylar’s sake that Flock of Dudes ends up as a huge hit. His last movie, 21 and Over, came and went, but this new one boasts an impressive cast, with Hilary Duff, New Girl’s Hannah Simone, Ray Liotta, and comedian Marc Maron.

To paraphrase the ‘80s band Flock of Seagulls, we’ll run so far to see this movie. (Any Flock of Seagulls fans out there? No one?)
