Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) has recorded her first song of Glee Season 5 — her first song since boyfriend Cory Monteith (Finn) died suddenly last month of a heroin overdose — and based on the tweets of everyone involved, it sounds as if we're in for an emotional return.
“Couldn't have picked a more beautiful & perfect song to start the year with..” Lea tweeted the evening of August 5. “Thank you @alxanders & @AdamAnders for a great recording session today.. You guys are the best❤” she wrote.
Adam Anders, who is Glee's executive music producer, took to Twitter to praise the actress for her work that day, and her strength in returning to the studio so soon. “@msleamichele you are the strongest person I know. That was truly amazing. Love you xoxo #leastrong,” he wrote.
His brother, Glee music producer Alex Anders (not to be confused with Adam's wife, former Glee Project mentor Nikki Anders), tweeted, “@msleamichele You were absolutely magnificent today. I am in awe of your strength and your sweet spirit. Love you. #leastrong”
So far, we're not sure what song Lea was recording. The actress just had her first day back to work on Friday, so it's almost certain that this song will be for Glee's Season 5 premiere, part 1 of a two-part tribute episode to The Beatles. After finishing those episodes, Glee will begin production on its Cory Monteith tribute episode. No doubt Lea’s Rachel will be singing a number of songs to her late ex-fiancé, Finn, in that one. We're fully prepared for it to be the most emotional Glee episode ever.
