UPDATE: Well Go USA has acquired all U.S. rights to Cory Monteith's McCanick, and The Hollywood Reporter reveals that plans are underway to have the film debut in U.S. theaters in early 2014.

Cory Monteith’s (Finn) final film project now officially has a premiere date! The Glee star had completed two movies at the time of his sudden and tragic death of a drug overdose on July 13, and now the final film will be making its way to audiences.

McCanick, the indie action flick in which Cory played a drug addict — eerie, we know — will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall.

His other film, an indie dramedy titled All the Wrong Reasons, will also premiere at the same festival. The Toronto International Film Festival will run from September 5-15, though it is still unclear on which specific days each film will premiere.

In his final film role in McCanick, Cory played Simon, a drug-addicted convict who has spent seven years behind bars. The Glee star had been open about his past substance abuse, but it’s only in light of his death of a heroin overdose that we now realize just how close to home his final role was.

"He had expressed that he was kind of going through a rough time, but that he was feeling better about it," McCanick director Josh Waller told ET Canada. “And then when I saw him at the screening, he wrote me a really sweet email."

“He was very vocal about his past, and said he wanted to tap into things from his youth that he hadn't been able to use as an actor yet,” Josh told the L.A. Times.

Will you try to go and see the film, or does the real-life connection make the whole thing feel way too real? We’d love to see Cory’s last movie, but we have a feeling its going to be an emotional one to get through!
