To say that Glee’s Lea Michele (Rachel) has had a rough past couple of weeks would be an understatement. Like, a huge one. Barely even a month ago, Lea’s boyfriend Cory Monteith (Finn) passed away unexpectedly of a drug overdose.
After taking time to grieve with Cory’s family and then spend some time alone, Lea is now back to work filming Glee Season 5, and she made her very public return to the spotlight giving a tearful tribute to Cory at the August 11 Teen Choice Awards.
So while Lea has begun to resume her normal life, there’s no doubt that each day still brings with it an immense amount of pain. The Glee star has been keeping an immensely positive attitude — what few tweets she’s written lately have all been upbeat — and on August 14, Lea took a moment to share with fans something that really put her in a good mood.
“Got this in the mail yesterday from my girl @remyzaken..Made me smile :)” Lea tweeted. Remi, one of Lea’s Spring Awakening co-stars from back in her Broadway days, sent the Glee star a Playbill forFunny Girl with Barbra Streisand in the title role.
Barbra is by far one of Lea’s top celebrity idols of all time, and (not so coincidentally) her Glee character is up for the starring role in a Broadway revival of Funny Girl. We’re still not sure if Rachel will get the part or not, but we’d love to see her involved with the show in some capacity. Maybe as an understudy. Or part of the crew. This show is her destiny. And one way or another, we bet she’ll get to be a part of it.
