When Finn (Cory Monteith) passes away suddenly in Glee Season 5, Episode 3, many long-absent characters will come back to McKinley to gather together and mourn his loss. We learned earlier that Puck (Mark Salling), Mercedes (Amber Riley), and Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) will all be there.

Now, we have confirmation from the Glee stars themselves on Twitter that both Finn’s mother, Carole Hudson-Hummel (Romy Rosemont) and his step father Burt Hummel (Mike O’Malley) will be back, as well.

On August 28, Romy Rosemont tweeted, “Looking forward to being with @chriscolfer and Mike O'Malley today.  Those are some handsome shoulders to lean on...

It sounds like Kurt (Chris Colfer) rushes home to Lima the moment he hears that his step-brother has passed away. There, he, his father, and Finn’s mom can comfort each other as they try to come to terms with the truth that Finn Hudson will never be there with them again.

Also back for this emotional episode is Finn’s friend and former football coach, Shannon Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones). That same day, Dot tweeted, “First day back on Glee today ep #3 it’s beautiful, going to be a long day! Love you lil punkins!”

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has said that the show has decided to keep the cause of Finn’s death intentionally vague. We’ll know that he’s gone, but the exact circumstances of his death will remain unclear at first. Instead, the episode will focus on being a “celebration” of Finn’s life.
