We’re sure that we’ll be a ball of tears and tissues while watching Glee’s upcoming Season 5, Episode 3 tribute to Cory Monteith (Finn). So we can only imagine how difficult it must have been to direct it.

Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk directed the episode, which airs on Fox on October 10, 2013. When Brad was asked by a Twitter follower why he hasn’t been tweeting much lately, Brad responded:

Wow. Brad worked closely with Cory for a four years before the Glee star suddenly passed away on July 13. To direct that episode about someone he knew so well: That must have been beyond difficult. But we love hearing Brad call the tribute “beautiful,” along with praising the cast and crew.

Indeed, Brad is hardly the only one on the Glee team who found filming the episode to be difficult. Amber Riley (Mercedes) says she was in tears during the filming, Darren Criss (Blaine) says it was “tough to shoot,” and Naya Rivera (Santana) says that saying goodbye to Cory on camera is “the hardest thing to do.”

And given that the episode is said to be “gut-wrenching,” it makes sense that the series will take about a two-week hiatus after it airs to regroup and allow producers to decide on the direction of the show’s future storylines. All in all, we’re looking forward to seeing the episode, even though we know it’s going to be extremely difficult.
