We can’t even imagine how difficult life must have been for Lea Michele (Rachel) in the two months since her Glee co-star (and real-life boyfriend) Cory Monteith (Finn) passed away suddenly in July.

The Glee star has been surrounding herself with friends and family, but she’s also been quick to return back to work filming Season 5 of her show. Creator Ryan Murphy offered her time off if she wanted it, but he says that Lea was firm about wanting to get back to work. Still while many things in her life have appeared to return to normal after this life-altering tragedy, the reality of Cory’s permanent absence must be something that Lea is reminded of every single day.

Naya Rivera (Santana) has been working frequently with Lea throughout these first few episodes, and the actress tells E! News that she is incredibly impressed by the way Lea is handling everything.

When asked point blank how Lea was doing, Naya paused for a bit, making it clear that this was not an easy answer to give. “She’s doing uh, you know, really well,” Naya said. “And she’s so strong. I just can’t believe how strong she’s actually been. So, my hat’s off to her.”

We don’t know how she does it, but the strength that Lea has shown is truly impressive. Our thoughts go out to her as she continues to journey on during this extremely difficult time.
