The good news: When Glee returns for it’s Season 5 premiere this Thursday, the one and only Miss Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) appears to have gotten a callback for the starring role in Funny Girl.

The bad news: That audition does not seem to have gone well. Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive video clip from the September 26 episode, and we get the chance to see Rachel all dressed up in a cute pink trench coat and stepping in the doors of the Funny Girl theatre for her callback audition.

This second audition appears to be Rachel’s chemistry audition with the actor who will play her love interest, Nick Arnstein. (Fans of The CW’s now-cancelled Ringer will recognize him as British actor Ioan Gruffudd. Swoon.)

Sadly, the director — played by Twilight’s Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen) — does not seem at all impressed with Rachel’s audition. He cuts it short and curtly sends the budding star away. The wide-eyed Miss Berry’s attempts to gush to her scene partner about how great it is to meet him are rebuffed with equal coolness and disdain.

So while we don’t know for sure that Rachel didn’t get the part, things certainly aren’t looking good.
