Lea Michele (Rachel) will only appear at the end of Glee’s October 10 tribute to the late Cory Monteith (Finn), but her role is said to be extremely emotional. But as Glee fans are watching the episode — and let’s face it, bawling our eyes out — at least one person won’t be watching it with us: Lea herself.
It turns out that the entire episode is just too heartbreaking for Lea to watch, at least according to Hollywood Life report.
“Lea most likely is going to skip watching the tribute episode as she will be way too emotional,” an unnamed source close to Lea tells the site. ”She feels that she lived it and doesn’t need to continue to open the wounds of her heart by watching it.”
The source adds that while Lea is very “proud” of the episode, she feels “extremely sad thinking about it.” We’ve heard the song Lea will be singing, a mournful “Make You Feel My Love,” full of pain and loss. She’s already lived this tribute once while filming it. It makes perfect sense why she wouldn’t want to re-live everything again.
Cory’s mom, Ann McGregor, made a similar decision when the Emmy Awards had a tribute for her son back in September. Though Ann was glad to see her son honored, she didn’t actually end up watching it. Ann felt that doing so would just be too emotional. If Lea feels the same way about Glee’s tribute episode, we absolutely understand.
