This Thursday (October 10) marks the Cory Monteith tribute episode of Glee. If you’re anything like us, this means you’re up to your already-bloodshot eyeballs in stores of tissues, hot cocoa, and ice cream. Well, prepare to break into your reserves early after hearing the latest news about Cory’s girlfriend Lea Michele and her Glee character (Rachel).
According to Glee creator Ryan Murphy, all that sadness won’t be packed away into a neat little Kleenex box after Season 5, Episode 3. Rachel will struggle with the loss of Finn all season, Ryan tells Australian magazine TV Week. “It’s not just done, buried and goodbye,” he says.
But don’t think for a moment that Lea’s starring role on Glee will be decreased at all in the coming episodes. “Lea is very heavy in this season. She was big last season, but she’s really big — and back. Make no mistake, Lea’s the female star this season. And, I think that’s really good.”
It makes total sense Rachel will be dealing with the major loss seeing as she and Cory were the “it” couple on Glee. Plus, to make the situation even more real, Lea’s undoubtedly dealing with her grief off camera.
That said, we’re not sure how much sad we can handle. Already listening to Lea’s contribution to the tribute episode, the Adele classic “Make You Feel My Love,” has us soaked in our own tears. And melted ice cream.
