Tired of so many tribute episodes on Glee ? Yeah, too bad. You’re about to get another one. Of the six episodes planned or finished for Season 5 so far, all but one appear to be tribute episodes. Yes. All but one.
The season started out with two Beatles’ tribute episodes. Episode 3 is Glee’s Cory Monteith (Finn) tribute, and then Episode 4 will feature only the music of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. After that, we have Episode 5: “The End of Twerk.” This may be a Miley Cyrus tribute, but we’re not entirely sure. Despite the title, the show could switch it up and mix in Miley music with other popular tunes.
Now, we’re hearing that November 21’s Season 5, Episode 6 is going to be a tribute to the music of Billy Joel. (It's worth noting that this hasn't been confirmed so far, but it's being reported on Billy Joel fansites and an number of blogs.) Okay, first of all, there’s no doubt that Billy Joel is a music icon. The man had more than 30 Top 40 hits in the 1970, ‘80s, and ‘90s. (Sidenote: Wasn’t that before most of Glee’s core fanbase was even born?)
- “Movin’ Out”
- “Piano Man”
- “My Life”
- “An Innocent Man”
- “Just the Way You Are”
Even if some fans won’t recognize Billy by name, his songs will likely be very familiar when the Glee cast starts to sing them. Are you excited about this reported new Glee tribute episode? Or do you wish the show would get off the tribute train and start mixing things up a bit?
