In many ways, Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) was Will Schuester’s (Matthew Morrison) protégé.

Just like Schue, Finn had a love of helping others through the power of music. We even suspect Glee was set to end with Finn permanently filling Will’s shoes at McKinley High School as the new glee club advisor. Then, over the summer, Cory passed away suddenly from an accidental overdose and everything changed.

Last week on October 10, Glee spent its typical Thursday night hour remembering the recently departed, deeply missed part of the McKinley High family. In Season 5, Episode 3: “The Quarterback” we revisited some of the most powerful moments Cory had on the show as Finn and said a final goodbye to the beloved quarterback.

The outpouring of love and support that followed the airing of Episode 3 and, in fact, which has been nearly constant since Cory’s passing in July — moved Matthew Morrison to take to Twitter.

“Thanks for all of the beautiful messages about #TheQuarterback. He touched all of our hearts! I miss him…” Matthew tweeted October 11 along with a personal photo of him and Cory goofing off, taking photos, and all around looking to have a great time together.

Cory brought so much joy to so many lives, and it’s nice to remember the happy moments he inspired. Thank you, Matthew.
