Amber Riley (Mercedes) experienced a potentially huge setback during the October 15 episode of Dancing With the Stars, and one that was frustratingly entirely out of her control. The Glee actress scored an impressive 26/30 points for her Week 5 foxtrot, but when the show posted the phone number for fans to call in and vote — it ended up being the wrong number flashed across the screen.

Amber tweeted out the correct number, and her Glee co-star Chris Colfer (Kurt) did the same, but with a clever twist.

It’s not, clearly. But we love Chris’ creativity in trying to help make up for Amber’s setback. Still, the Glee star’s tweet has caused some to question whether or not he cheated by offering additional support.

During an October 15 segment of E! News, the hosts debated whether or not Chris was cheating... and Giuliana Rancic certainly thought so. “I saw that, I’m like, ‘Wait, that is not right,’” she says. “It wasn’t like he said, ‘Call in Amber,’ he literally just put it out there. So, of course, people are going to call, and then they vote for her.”

Her conclusion? “Listen, it’s genius. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure everyone wishes they thought of that.”

Chris obviously watched the segment, and he even tweeted about it the next day.

Touche, good sir. (Of course, by this point the DWTS voting period had long ended, and Amber was already safe from elimination. But the sentiment behind Chris’ cheeky response couldn’t be clearer.)

Amber saw the tweet and responded:

E!s’ own Kristin Dos Santos even got in on the action. (Spoiler alert: She’s Team Chris on this one.)

Would you consider Chris’s actions to be cheating? Or, given the unfair circumstances of the incorrect phone number, do you view it more as vaillant support? Head below to sound off.
