Now that we know Glee will likely end after Season 6, our minds are reeling with all the shoulda, woulda, couldas of our favorite musically inclined show.
Already we’ve heard the heartbreaking way the series would have come to close with Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) reuniting once and for all in the halls of McKinley High. With the sudden death of Cory this summer, however, everything about Glee changed including much of what Season 6 has in store.
“It’s really f—ing hard. It’s hard. It’s hard everyday,” Ryan says of dealing with Cory’s death. “It’s hard in the writer’s room. It’s hard on the set. It just feels like … it’s hard too because we’re getting ready to wrap up a series. We’re going to do one more year and that’s it. So the last scene and the last stories were always very Cory heavy.”
As painful as it may be to imagine what might have been between Rachel and Finn, it’s nice to know they would have had their happy ending. And whatever Ryan and the rest of Glee’s writers have in mind for the remainder of the show, we’re sure it will do Cory and his character proud. Ryan says he already has “a good idea” for the series finale.
“I’m going in, in like a week, to tell the studio and the network how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show,” Ryan says, “which I think is very satisfactory and kind of an end in his honor — which I love.”
We can’t wait to see it.
