Another Glee star has landed their very own record deal. Huge congratulations are in order for Alex Newell (Unique), who has signed with Atlantic Records.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals the news, adding that Glee’s executive music producer Adam Anders will be working closely with Alex on the project. In fact, Adam’s Deep Well Records (an “imprint,” or division, of Atlantic) will be the ones to release Alex’s debut album.

Alex and Adam first worked together on The Glee Project, when the now-21 year old was still just an unknown from Massachusetts looking for his big break. Though Alex didn’t win Season 1 of the show, he was one of two runners-up, which landed him a two-episode arc.

However, producers were so impressed with his performance as Unique that they extended the arc and eventually signed Alex as a series regular for Glee Season 5.

"Alex is such an undeniable talent with one of the most unique and distinct voices I've heard in a long time," Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman says.

Alex tweeted the news on October 30, writing, “I'm soo excited to share this with all of you and I can't wait until you hear what I'm working on!!

Plenty of Glee Project alums have already taken to Twitter to share their congratulations.
